At midnight on Tuesday, one of my favorite bands will be playing at TFC. I’m shitting myself with excitement, and you should be too. Before I start hyperventilating, let me tell you a little bit about the band.

In 2004, some absurdly talented chaps at the University of North Texas decided to get together and play some groovy music. In the sonic lovestorm that ensued, SNARKY PUPPY was conceived.

Soon enough, Snarky relocated to Brooklyn and immediately began to make waves on the New York scene. In 2010 the band released Tell Your Friends, a fucking amazing live-in-the-studio album/documentary that generated widespread critical acclaim. A few world tours later, the band released its most recent album, groundUP, which may well be the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. The band is currently back on the road, spreading its funky gospel the world over and preparing to blow our minds.

CLEAR SOUL FORCES

Detroit-based rap collective Clear Soul Forces is currently setting fire to the hip-hop establishment. Since the group’s formation in 2009 (following an all-night studio collaboration with rapper extraordinaire Royce Da 5’9″), Clear Soul Forces have steadily climbed the ladder to hip-hop stardom. Blessed with a lyrical eloquence and cutting articulation that renders their hard-edged subject matter all the more captivating, CSF are equal parts wit and grit. Reeling from the success of their 2012 debut full-length Detroit Revolution(s) and preparing for the release of a new mixtape entitled Gold PP7′s, the Forces are completing final revisions to their master plan for world hip-hop domination.

Of course, they can’t take over the world without our help. So come to TFC on Saturday, April 6th and be a part of something bigger than you. I’m talkin’ bout a rap revolution, folks. A rapvolution. Be there.

That’s right–the world’s finest gender-ambiguous rapper/actor/poet/prophet wants to put her (his) funky gospel in our holiest of holies. Get ready.

If you haven’t gotten a load of Mykki yet, check out her website–a new mixtape is up for free download. She’s also got tons of live sets on her Soundcloud. Holler on Facebook or Twitter if you’re into that, and maybe get to know her a little better by reading this article. Vacationer

This Saturday, Vacationer comes to Terrace.

Touring in support of their recently-released EP Gone, Vacationer’s music spans a diverse range of influences and genres, from “psych and sampledelic indie-pop” to “low-key, Gorillaz-style funk”. They’ll be playing at 12:15 AM; be sure not to miss it.

Mac Demarco + Dent May

First up on the 11th is Dent May. Releasing music on Animal Collective’s Paw Tracks imprint, his work has been called “instantly welcoming… with each hook burrowing deeply into you head”. He’s released two EPs, 2009′s The Good Feeling Music Of Dent May & His Magnificent Ukulele and 2012′s Do Things, and promises to bring a fantastic show to Terrace. 12:00 AM start time, don’t be late.

And finishing off the night is Montreal’s Mac Demarco, touring in support of his excellent new album (called “alluringly sleazy” by NPR and just “sleazy” by Pitchfork). Demarco makes irony-drenched pop music, and you’ll enjoy it. Don’t believe me? Listen.

Starting at 12 AM Saturday (well technically Sunday…), check out self-proclaimed “gayngsta rap” artist LE1F.

Drawing from electronica and grime, Le1f first gained attention for the infectious “Wut.” Le1f’s been featured in the New York Times, NPR, and the BBC. He’s currently touring with Das Racist, and is sure to bring some energetic music “flecked with grime and busted neon.“

For a preview, check out his partially-Nguzunguzu-produced Dark York mixtape, called by Fader ”a major work that constantly and subversively carves a distinct space for itself without stepping outside of the feel of popular hip-hop.”

Radical Dads

Radical Dads describe themselves thus: “Radical Dads is a band that sounds like standing next to a body of water and noticing that something is moving just underneath the surface and then realizing that actually nothing is moving, it’s just that your glasses are broken and you have no idea how it happened. Also your elbow is scraped up and you think something just caught on fire in the distance — you can see the glow and smell it a little. There is a junkyard nearby, where something is about to happen, or is already happening.”

Radical Dads seem like they might be a bit crazy. But they’ve released music to praise from The New York Times, SPIN, the Village Voice, the AV Club, and Brooklyn Vegan, and are known for their high-energy live show. Terrace F Club, 12:00 AM. Be there.
